Q: Sean Crafts (Mavenlink Co-Founder) – Can you tell us a little about your business?
A: Kelly Parkinson – At Copylicious, sales through storytelling is the essence of what I do. Every client is different, but most businesses come away with a bunch of marketing tactics they actually want to do, copy they're proud of, and this feeling of, 'wow, I think I know what to say if anyone ever asks me what we do!' I also work with people to optimize their sales cycle, plugging in all the 'let me think about it' gaps. It's fun!
Q: Sean – Please explain the challenges that brought you to using a project management solution in Mavenlink.
A: Kelly – When I begin working with clients, the project’s process is very collaborative, but pretty loose. We don't always know exactly what we're going to do until we've spent some time talking through the client’s challenges and deciding on a course of action that feels best for them. We don't know exactly what they'll need, or which parts they'll take care of and which parts I'll take care of. Sometimes all we know is that something needs to launch on a particular date, and we just need to work backwards.
Mavenlink allows me keep track of who's doing what, and when, and, most importantly, why. I can see why decisions were made at each step, because the conversation and the tasks and the milestones and accompanying documents are all in one place. If the project is bigger than me, it's easy for me to loop in a team member or freelance consultant without needing to worry about getting them up to speed. They can join the project workspace and know exactly what is going on.
Q: Sean – Please explain the Results of using Mavenlink.
A: Kelly – Before Mavenlink, I think I held myself back from thinking bigger about my business and the possibilities for collaborating with other consultants. I didn't want to have to become a project manager or deal with sorting out who was doing what. Now that it's easy for me to work as a part of an ad hoc collective of independent consultants with Mavenlink as my [project management solution](http://www.mavenlink.com), I can compete for bigger business. I don't have to become an agency to take on larger projects. I can loop in exactly the right people for each client. And when it's over, we can download the workspace PDF and disband.
Q: Sean – I know you integrate Mavenlink with Google Apps to help run your business. Are there other Google products you use?
A: Kelly - I use just about every Google product, either for myself or for my clients: Google Analytics, Adwords, Chrome, etc. Mavenlink is the only external product I use that is available in Google Apps Marketplace.
Q: Sean – How do you use Google Apps with Mavenlink together?
A: Kelly – My favorite feature is the Google Calendar sync, so my milestones and deadlines are automatically added to my Google Apps calendar, without having to constantly manually add and readjust them. One less thing for me to worry about.
